Understanding and Protecting the Word of God

Understanding and Protecting the Word of God

Rom. 10:11-17 Matt. 13:1-23 1 John 4:16-18 Isaiah 54:11-17

Whenever you hear the Word of God two things happen: Faith Comes; and Satan comes; Faith comes to feed our spirit and build us up. Satan comes to try to steal the source of our faith from your heart; We need to keep hearing the Word of God so our Faith can grow; but we also need to know that the devil will try to take the Word you heard away from you, thru pressure, problems, fear, persecution and even questioning the Word you heard, like in the Garden of Eden Satan may come with a question “Has God said?”

Satan is only successful when you don’t understand the Word of God. Jesus said that when a person Understands the Word – the devil CANNOT STEAL THE WORD! Remember – Faith refuses to give up or be moved in the face of Satan and everything he throws at us. You are more than a conquerer in Christ, you have the authority to run the devil off, as you understand the Word you will not be defeated. Praise God!!

Mat 13:16 “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

Mat 13:17 I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.

Mat 13:18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds:

Mat 13:19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.

Mat 13:20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy.

Mat 13:21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.

Mat 13:22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.

Mat 13:23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

Satan always tries to steal the Word of God from your heart (Mark 4:1-20 Matt. 13:1-23)

Satan will come to see if you really understand the Word of God. (Gen 3) When you don’t understand the Word, he can steal it. Joy comes by understanding the Word (Neh. 8)  if Satan can’t steal your joy he can’t defeat you. Your ability to receive the Word depends on the condition of your heart, which is compared to soil- good, wayside, stony, and thorny ground.

You must resist the devil when he tries to steal the Word. (James 4:6)

Use the Sword of the Spirit, the accurate Word of God against the devil Eve failed at this because she did not understand the Word, she miss quoted the Word, and she added to it (Gen 3: )

Walking in Love and not being offended is a way to protect the Word in your heart.

You resist the devil be having complete confidence that God loves you (John 17 1 John 4:16-18) The way to resist the devil is not to fight him in the flesh; we don’t fight people; we walk in perfected love.  by walking in perfected love fear cannot attack you and steal the Word.

Affliction will arise in the life of a believer; God, however is not responsible for it. (Isaiah 54:11-17)

God promises that He will deliver us out of All our afflictions (Psalms 34: ) Stay in Love when you are afflicted. Anyone established in righteousness can’t be touched by the harassment or the oppression of the devil God originally created Lucifer for Praise and Worship in heaven, but his disobedience earned him title of “waster” When you know and believe that you are the righteousness of God, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Take control of your emotions and words during affliction. If you refuse to give in to fear and focus more on walking in love and constantly use your authority when challenges arise, you will never be defeated.

What Grace IS, What it is NOT.

What Grace IS, what is it NOT

By Jonathan Doctor

Grace IS simply a Free Gift. In most cases Grace in the Bible refers to God’s Unmerited Favor; In other words, unmerited is another way of saying Free; or you get it even though you didn’t earn, merit or pay for it. I want to point out that God’s Free Gift of Grace and Favor is NOT a LICENSE to sin.

After study of the Word of God I am a firm believer that Once your saved YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS SAVED. Unfortunately people CAN walk away from Christ After they received Him. Why anyone would want to walk away from their Salvation I don’t know, perhaps it is because they have been taught that God’s Grace justifies their sinning. In fact God’s Grace does not justify you to sin. God’s Grace is part of God’s Character,

Jesus is a perfect example of the Character of Grace. Lets look at the Word to see my point.

John 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

John 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

John 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with [his] finger wrote on the ground, [as though he heard them not].

John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

John 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

John 8:9 And they which heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

John 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Now lets go back to John 5

John 5:5 NLT One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty- eight years.

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?”

John 5:7 “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”

John 5:8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”

John 5:9 Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath,

John 5:10 so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

John 5:11 But he replied, “The man who healed me told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.'”

John 5:12 “Who said such a thing as that?” they demanded.

John 5:13 The man didn’t know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd.

John 5:14 But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”

I want you to notice that Jesus Restored the woman in Adultery and forgave her and did not condemn her but said “go and sin no more“. You see Grace will Forgive and Restore a person BUT Grace also says “Go and sin No More”. Also notice the paralyzed man who was made whole, Grace Healed him but Grace also said “Stop sinning or something worse will happen“.

You see the problem in some churches today is that they go too far to the right or too far to the left. They either Condemn a saint for their sins, or they make Grace a License to sin and do whatever because they believe that “Once saved Always Saved”. The True Meaning of Grace is Restoration, Healing and ‘Go sin no more’, live a Holy life.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Tit 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

So the balanced teaching and definition of Grace when related to sin is to Restore, Heal, Deliver and then Go and sin no more. Correction has its place, but don’t let Condemnation keep you or anyone else from Restoration, Healing and every other benefit of Grace. Grace Teaches us to Live Holy Lives.

The Once saved Always saved teaching cannot be a correct aspect of Grace. Just like a man and a woman come together in Holy Matrimony; as they do, they make a commitment to be together until death if need be. Unfortunately many marriages end up in divorce even though they made a commitment to be united forever. Someone in that marriage walked away from that Covenant, in the case of Marriage, sometimes they both walk away from their Covenant and Commitment to God and each other. Our God does not walk away from His Covenant with us; man always is the one to walk away from God.

A Christian Manifesto

15 Aug

Paper by: Jonathan Doctor

Francis A Schaeffer’s “A Christian Manifesto” is one of the most sobering cups of coffee about the times we live in as a nation. This book discusses the beginnings of humanism and how it has crept into our society and culture today. The Christians have been disturbed over the sins of our culture, from pornography, abortion, marriage, Harry Potter and the occult to  the public school systems to our current laws and judicial tyranny.

What they don’t realize is the real root of the problem, the gradual, but quick change in the cultural world view. A change in the overall way people think and base their values on. This nations history and birth was from a Christian view that came from the Bible. The history of American Law will take you back to the Declaration of Independence and the views that they had. This nations history goes back even before it was founded, the people who founded it had a Christian world view before they came.

The Mayflower Compact states there purpose to form a government politic and body that would “advance the Christian faith”. Our founding fathers had biblical values, and views. The Declaration of Independence was signed by majority of Christians and one of them being a pastor. Since the birth of this nation until now many things have changed. Change it has for the worse, today the humanism view that crept into our law making process, and our educational faculties.

Today we see homosexual marriage legal, when God says it is not, we see prayer taken out of the Government when our founders of the government opened up every meeting with prayer. Not to mention abortion, which God calls is now legal and receives government funding. We see a total wicked twist of the original meaning of the separation of the church and state. We see the threat of imprisonment of Christians and Pastors if they speak out on Islam or homosexuality. We see “hate crime” laws trying to be passed to stop the church from speaking out against sin.

As of 2008 we see things like the “Fairness Doctrine” act trying to be passed. The “Fairness Doctrine Act” is an act that, if passed, will begin to sensor all Christian broadcasting and provide opposite views to be heard. Also, because of the silence of the Christians in our churches, our governments, and positions of influence our public voice through radio, Television and other media outlets are in danger. If the Church stays politically correct and stays silent we will see a nation wide discrimination against the Christian Biblical Worldview and what we stand for. It is only right to stand up and speak up and be silent no more otherwise we will go into another dark age with no Christian voice and allow our nation to be hijacked.

The “separation of church and state” as we hear it today is a twisted truth, a lie. The original intent was for 2 reasons; to make sure that the country didn’t have a mandatory religion, but instead gave people the freedom of choice. They didn’t want to force any religion on people even though they were all Christian. The second reason was to protect the church from being ruled by the government. In other words the Government (state) could not interfere with the church’s affairs.

The Judicial Tyranny that has come is because of our own fault of not taking our place as a Christian voice, by not taking a stand on issues that disturb us. The Christians in the past have been silent while the liberal theologeons and the secular humanists take over the country. Its time for Christians to be the Salt and Light that they should be and be silent no more. Rod Parsley, the Founder of “The Center for Moral Clarity” and author of “Silent No More” and “Culturally Incorrect” says that “Our times demand it. Our history compels it. Our future requires it. And most of all God is watching.” Francis Schaeffer points out in his book “A Christian Manifesto” that part of the problem in the past 100 years or so is that the Christian lawyers and Christian leadership stayed silent when they should have sounded a lour clarion Shofar Blast to wake up the sleeping giant of the church. He mentions that many Christians over spiritualize their Christianity and focus more on the spiritual side than the natural side of things.

As Christians we cannot be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good. We cannot stay in our prayer closet forever, everyone else in our society is coming out of the closet with their views, why not the Christians, who are ordained to be the salt and the light. We as Christians ought to be the law makers, judges, Public school Principles, presidents and congressmen. We as Christians ought to get involved in the political process and help educate society on morality as the Bible teaches it. Another part of the problem that caused this change in our culture is again the church’s fault. Like I said, the original intent of this nation and government was to “advance the Christian Faith” as stated in the “MayFlower Compact”.

A Compact is a Covenant, a Pledge and a Contract Agreement; they made that Contract Agreement to God and to each other and committed themselves to it. A problem also started when we allowed all kinds of immigrants into our country without reaching out to them with the Gospel. Instead we didn’t reach out and they in turned over the years took their religions and non-religious world views into our nation, governments , laws etc… they were in essence making their voices heard as new citizens in our Nation.

I don’t want to come across predjeduce; they have the right to do so in this blessed land, but because the church stayed silent and didn’t advance the Christian faith to them they Advanced their faiths and beliefs into our culture and that secular mindset has been trying to change everything.

If the first church stayed in the upper room after the Day of Pentecost and did not address the culture of their day with the Gospel than they would have been too heavenly minded and no earthly good. The fact of the matter is that every Revival and outpouring of the Holy Spirit brought a reformation in culture. John Wesley, Charles Finney, Jonathan Edwards and many others not only brought people to Salvation but also caused a shake in their culture. They brought a revival to the cultural values and a stirring up of Christians to influence their culture in the right direction. We could depress ourselves if we looked at all the negatives in our society and culture. We could stand and point fingers at the Christian lawyers, or judges who kept silent during this secular humanist takeover. That would take all day and would not help us to change our nation back to its foundational biblical Christian values. We can learn from ours and others’ mistakes and make sure that we hold each other accountable so it doesn’t happen again.

In order to produce the change we want we must get involved to influence our culture. This is not an easy thing, it will take commitment and you may have to endure persecution for what you believe in. If there were more outspoken Christians in congress and in our judicial system than they would think twice about trying to pass an ungodly law. If the Christians were the ones in charge of the curriculums in the public schools than there would be a better chance to teach the children biblical principles, about God

and about morality and eternal Life instead of teaching them and influencing them toward homosexuality, Harry Potter and the Islam faith. Also if we would influence the culture around us by teaching, by life and by action. If we as Christians would live and put action to what we say we believe than we will give a witness to our culture that the Christ we believe in really does change lives.

Rod Parsley in his book “Silent No More” says that we as Christians have suffered spiritual palsy and have spoken when we were to be silent, and been silent when we were to have spoken.

Jude 1:3 NLT ….But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to His holy people.

God has entrusted to us for all time to defend the faith, to take a stand and fight against the wiles of the devil (Eph. 6). The Lord told us to Go into all the world, but we have stayed in our sanctuaries singing hyms. Here in America we still have the freedom of speech, we have freedom of religion but we have forfeited our rights because we have been too comfortable in our sanctuaries. We have been doing this for so long that now that we are on the verge of losing our rights and privileges.

The reason we are living in a day that s_e_ x and s_e_x ual provocating scenes have become such a part of our culture, a part of sales of products, a part of television programming. The reason we now have openly gay characters on t.v. who are influencing the youth to live their type of lifestyles is because the Christians have been in their sanctuaries and prayer closets and being too heavenly minded that they have forgotten to be salt and light in this world.

Our Governments on the earth are ordained by God and we as Christians are to be submitted to it. However in “A Christian Manifesto” Francis Schaeffer points out something that we all as Christians should agree with. He says “The bottom line is that at a certain point there is not only the right but the duty to disobey the state”. He is referring to when we as Christians should rebel against our government. We find examples of this with Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Adednego. We see this example being lived out in many of the prophets and in the New Testament from Peter’s “I’d rather Obey God than men” to Paul’s being thrown into prison, to William Tyndale who advocated the Supreme Authority of the scriptures over all authority of the state and church. We can also take “Pilgram’s Progress’s ” author John Bunyon who was also thrown in jail three times for preaching the Gospel without a state license and for not being a part of the Church of England.

Rom 13:1 NLT Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

Rom 13:2 So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.

Rom 13:3 For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.

Rom 13:4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.

God has created Governmental Authority for our (the church’s) good. They are God’s ministers for our good, they are to punish evil (in God’s sight) and reward good (in God’s sight). The governmental authorities are NOT set up to punish the church or make laws that forbid the church from its ministry. They are NOT to punish what is bad in their site but what God calls evil, abominable, and that is the moral standard that judges between evil and good. For example if God calls a baby in the womb evil than the government should call it evil and set up punishments to killers of that babies’ life. Another example would be since

God calls homosexuality sin, evil and an abomination than our government needs to set their laws up in order to punish what is evil in God’s sight. We can also bring it home in the pews, for example God calls slander, gossip, and unbelieving reports “evil” so the church authorities should deal with those who do these evil things aswell.

1Pe 2:13 NLT For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state,

1Pe 2:14 or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.

1Pe 2:15 It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.

1Pe 2:16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.

1Pe 2:17 Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king.

1Pe 2:18 You who are slaves must accept the authority of your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel.

1Pe 2:19 For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment.

God’s Word defines what is evil and what is good, and God has set up the government to be ministers of that judgment. Rewards to the good and punishments to the bad. The problem is that many in our nation don’t believe the Bible or understand it. They have been taught about democracy and not Theocracy. We need To make God the Law Makers and base our laws on His Law. It is a must that we as Christians pray for all in authority and ask the Lord to turn all the hearts of those in Authority in order to accomplish His purpose, to reward good in His sight, and to punish evil in His sight. It is also imperitive that we take our views into the culture and be an influence as a voter, a lawyer, a congressmen, a judge. Lets raise up a generation that will not compromise under peer pressure, that will speak up and take a stand and be silent no more so we can be One Nation Under God and not One Nation Above God. We must ask ourselves, “Do  we want to be a part of the problems or the solutions? God is watching.
